The Story: My nearest zoo, the Rio Grande Biopark in Albuquerque, NM, has one species of wolf - the Mexican wolf. These wolves are the smallest subspecies of the gray wolf, but unlike their timber wolf cousins, they are critically endangered. Nearly wiped out completely in the wild, the Mexican wolf is slowly being returned to its original habitats. Partly because of the nature of the wolf, and partly because of the shape of their enclosure at the zoo, these guys are incredibly hard to photograph. I combined three of my better photos to make this composition. The looks on their faces, coupled with the night setting, gives me the feeling they are about to prepare for something. Perhaps hearing a potential meal in the distance. This is the reason behind the title.
